Understanding Oxygen Saturation: What SpO2 Means

By The Lungora Team · September 2026

Pulse oximeters have become household items since 2020. Understanding what the numbers mean helps you use this tool appropriately.

Normal ranges

Normal SpO2: 95 to 100%. Below 92% at rest warrants medical evaluation. Below 90% requires immediate medical attention. Readings below 95% in a previously healthy adult are concerning.

What affects readings

Cold fingers (reduced perfusion), nail polish (blocks sensor), motion artifact, altitude (lower normal at elevation), skin pigmentation (can produce falsely elevated readings in darker skin tones).

The supplement context

No supplement raises blood oxygen saturation in a meaningful clinical sense. If your SpO2 is consistently low, you need medical evaluation, not a supplement. Lungora supports general wellness; it does not affect oxygen saturation.
